Mendigorria is a town located in the Ribera Alta region of Navarre, in the north of Spain. The area has an important winemaking tradition, with several wineries and vineyards producing wines under the Navarra Designation of Origin.
The most outstanding wines of Mendigorria and the area are young, fresh and fruity reds and rosés, made from varieties such as Tempranillo, Garnacha, Graciano and Cabernet Sauvignon. Some whites are also produced, mainly from the Viura variety.
In terms of gastronomy, the Mendigorria area is known for its garden produce, especially for its artichokes, which are grown in the area and can be found in many dishes in the local cuisine. Some of the most representative dishes of Mendigorria's gastronomy are:
Artichokes with ham: this is a simple but very tasty dish, in which the artichokes are cooked with cured ham and garlic.
Vegetable stew: a traditional local recipe that combines different seasonal vegetables, such as asparagus, peas, artichokes, carrots, etc., in a stew with olive oil and garlic.
Chistorra: a typical sausage from Navarre, made with pork, garlic and paprika, which can be grilled or fried.
Chilindrón lamb: a typical preparation of the region, in which the lamb is cooked in a tomato, onion, pepper and garlic sauce, resulting in a very tasty and juicy meat.
As for desserts, you can find delicious cakes and pies made with local fruits, such as cherries and peaches, and artisan goat's and sheep's milk cheeses are also very popular.
High quality wines and oils, grown in Navarra, with the best of the Benedictine tradition and biodynamic philosophy.
