Bodegas Torreduero is in the town of de Toro, in the region of Zamora. Bodegas Torreduero, S.A. was born as a result of the firm commitment that a winery with more than 100 years of experience in Rioja and recognized prestige, as is Bodegas Riojanas, S.A. makes for the wines of the Denomination of Origin Toro. This commitment is based on the already recognized characteristics of these wines: exceptional color, robust body, etc., which offer a great present and enormous future potential. This is mainly due to the native grape variety used in its production, the "Tinta de Toro" (a variety related to Tempranillo, which resisted the phylloxera plague and therefore does not require grafting from American rootstock for its planting), and also to the unbeatable climatic and geological conditions that the region possesses. Its millenary history is already documented from the time of the Roman domination, reaching its maximum splendor in the late Middle Ages and the Renaissance (XII-XVI centuries). Also the excellence of its wines has a long documented tradition, being the favorite of the Court of Madrid in the time of the Austrias (XVI-XVII century), lasting its fame until today. Bodegas Torreduero, S.A. wants to combine the ancestral winemaking tradition of Toresano with the most modern winemaking techniques in order to achieve wines of excellent quality, providing innovation but maintaining the characteristics that have given it its own character and style.
