A wine cooperative, a union that is the fruit of a spirit of solidarity and a common struggle for a dream.
The Cooperativa Vinícola del Condado was founded in 1955, but its origins date back to the time when Christopher Columbus set sail in search of the New World. The farmers of Bollullos Par del Condado had their lands divided into small plots and were forced to sell their grapes at very low prices. That was the case until 1953...
That year proved to be exceptionally good, both in quality and quantity, and the small farmers found themselves without enough space to store the harvest. They turned to old, unused pits in abandoned plots and houses, an event that became known locally as "the year of the pits." But the real revolution came when the farmers decided to unite and form a cooperative to overcome their precarious situation.
As the Cooperativa Vinícola del Condado, the farmers faced the winemakers head-on, speaking on equal terms and competing in the market. This union was born from a spirit of solidarity and a shared struggle for a dream: the fair distribution of the winemaking business, which would soon lead to a rise in grape prices.
The Bodega Privilegio del Condado shares its location with the ‘Centro del Vino del Condado de Huelva’, belonging to the Diputación Provincial de Huelva.
