What is ARTCAVA?
Artcava is located in the town of Avinyonet del Penedès, in the province of Barcelona. The Penedès D.O. certifies the wines from this winery.
We avoid the classic, almost Baroque, mass tourism that is known up until now (don’t tell anyone we say these things). The three partners in the project—two young entrepreneurs in their thirties named Èric and Ignasi, who revived the winery, and a third, “Gran Reserva,” Ramon, our foodie and guide—have applied a “slow travel” philosophy in our activities. If you visit us, you will find a young, enthusiastic team in love with our work. It’s always us who lead the tours and workshops, and if you come, we guarantee you'll leave with a hangover, a full belly if you eat here, and maybe even a new friendship.
We produce 15,000 bottles of artisanal Cava a year, with nothing added, completely natural, no tricks.
How did it start?
Artcava is a project that was born in 2004, rebuilding a family winery owned by one of the partners, Ignasi. We know that his family had been cultivating vineyards and making wines since 1730.
Artcava today
At Artcava, there’s no rush: time is relative if the experience is worth it. We know when our workshops start, but we never know when or how they’ll end. Wine has been made right where we are for 2,500 years, and for that reason alone, time deserves a tribute.
You’ll find activities and boring winery tours elsewhere for much less money than at Artcava. But the experiences you’ll see below are real: we stay grounded and are backed by ten years of experience in creating them.
Just as Catalans are convinced and say that Catalunya is not Spain, we also like to say that Artcava is more than just another winery...
