Seven wineries distributed in seven locations open their doors in the province of Cuenca so you can taste their wine. Light and fruity wines, especially if they belong to the D.O. of La Mancha, whose route also passes through here, along with the Manchuela wine route.

It is often said that La Mancha is the winery of Europe.

There are already references in Don Quixote's novel to these wines, especially to its most common varieties, made with white Airén grape and red grape, Tempranillo. However, we cannot fail to mention that they also dare with natural sweet wines and sparkling wines.

In Parra de Las Vegas, there is a fountain that emanates wine during its festival season, which usually takes place in August.

There is also the feast of San Mateo, on September 21, a festival that dates back to the reconquest and where people drink zurra, a white wine with sugar and lemon that is accompanied by some delicious baked potatoes. Although do not forget that the characteristic drink of Cuenca is the resolí.

To eat, there are three dishes that you can not miss: zarajo, morteruelo and ajoarriero. For dessert, the most famous sweets are the Alajú, almond honey with breadcrumbs.
