WINERY PRESENTATION
Located in Rueda, our winery was founded in 1976, its history closely intertwined with that of the Designation of Origin. In its early years, the brand gained a foothold in Castilla y León, followed by rapid expansion both nationally and internationally.

Palacio de Bornos was the first winery in Castilla y León to produce sparkling wine, beginning in 1978. Our aim has been to harness the exceptional qualities of the Verdejo grape, starting with a single-varietal base wine that imparts personality and distinction. By employing the traditional method of production, we create sparkling wines of the highest quality.

VINEYARD
Palacio de Bornos owns 308 hectares of vineyards in Rueda, Pollos, and La Seca, with vines over 30 years old. We carefully select plots based on soil quality, conducting thorough analyses to ensure optimal vine growth. Our vineyard soils are characterized by a calcareous clay subsoil and a gravelly surface layer with abundant stones, providing excellent aeration and drainage – ideal conditions for grape cultivation.

The Rueda Designation of Origin is located in Castilla y León and encompasses 72 municipalities south of Valladolid, west of Segovia, and north of Ávila. The denomination's character is defined by three key elements that contribute to the production of high-quality, distinctive wines:

Grape variety: Verdejo, native to the region, produces fresh, pleasant, and harmonious wines with a lingering finish.
Climate: Continental, with low rainfall, significant temperature variations between day and night, and spring frosts, resulting in low yields and high-quality grapes.
Soils: Gravelly, allowing for excellent aeration and drainage.
