Cheese and chocolate pairings that will melt your taste buds.Sarmentero winery is in the wine region area of Ribera del Duero
Sarmentero is located in the small Valladolid town of Quintanilla de Arriba, in a Castilian corral near the banks of the Duero River. The property was acquired in 1942 and was formerly one of the three milling houses in the village. It was later used for the production of tiles and animal husbandry, wheat and barley combined with winemaking.
Generations of winemakers gave us the knowledge and discipline, love and passion to give the wine its best nuances. Amparo Repiso, being the fourth generation of winemakers, decided to go a step further and start her own winery in 2004. She started with, literally, one barrel of wine, 225 liters, which turned out to be the target of praise and good words, which encouraged her to continue making wine and gradually increase production until today.
La nueva bodega cuenta con varios departamentos (sala de barricas, producción, almacenamiento, catas y tienda, oficina y recepción), todos ellos perfectamente ensamblados en el paisaje castellano.
The first years of winemaking were carried out in the small adobe corrals that were part of the farmhouse. Despite our desire to maintain the original structure, in 2013 we completely renovated the winery, erecting a new building that, although more modern, continues to cultivate the soul and passion that our ancestors taught us.
Our vineyards stand on clay-limestone soils, a characteristic that allows better retention of nutrients and water, vital for the optimal development of the vines.
We are committed to sustainable cultivation by supporting the most environmentally friendly techniques. Our land, climate and winemaking techniques are reflected in the soul of our wine, resulting in a natural and quality product.
We have two vineyards of our own, both dedicated to the production of Tempranillo grapes.
Pago de Oyales: plantation of 1996, 5 hectares, halfway between Quintanilla de Arriba and Peñafiel.
Peñuelas: plantation dating from 2002, 2 hectares, just 500m from th
If you are undecided or if you want everything, this variant offers you (apart from the explanation of the vineyard and the winery), the tasting paired with cheese and cold meats. What more can you ask for!
We start the experience with explanations about our area and vineyard, where everything begins, the origin of a great wine. Back in the winery, we continue with the winemaking process and its secrets until we reach the final part: the product. The visit culminates with a tasting of four of our wines.
¿Has probado alguna vez a beber vino y maridarlo con chocolate? Tanto si la respuesta es que sí como si es que no, esta es tu visita. Después de enseñarte cómo trabajamos, culminamos la visita con una cata-maridaje de cuatro vinos con sus correspondientes chocolates para acentuar los sabores de ambas partes.
We start with an explanation of the work on the land, followed by the cellar, vinification and barrel aging. The icing on the cake is a picnic with our wines under the shade of our walnut tree in the courtyard of the winery, can you ask for more?
