PRESENTATION OF THE WINERY

Founded in the 1990s by the Korta-Bucarey family of Basque origin, Bodegas y Viñedos Korta currently represents one of the most important wineries in the Maule Region - Chile, specifically in the Sagrada Familia Valley, one of the oldest in the country, renowned for its great agricultural development, its farming traditions and the exceptional quality of its soils and climate.

Thus, in 1997, the couple formed by Mr. Francisco Corta Gurruchaga and Mrs. Amanda Bucarey Fuentes decided to embark on the winemaking business, gathering a vast experience gained over the years in various agricultural businesses.

That year, the family acquired the historic Santa Ana de Peteroa estate, one of the most emblematic in the region - the place where the memorial to the death of Cacique Lautaro lies. After this, and with the help of some of the best viticulture and enology consultants in the country, the planting of the wine varieties that have characterized Korta wines began: Petit Verdot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Syrah and Carignan, among others.

Located in the old Santa Ana de Peteroa estate in the commune of Sagrada Familia, Curico, it is not only the cradle of the best wines that Korta Vineyards has been producing for 20 years, but also in its landscapes a memorable part of Chile's history is kept. Its imposing hills are the backdrop of historical feats such as the battle of Peteroa, where the toqui Lautaro was shot in the back by Spanish conquistadors.
