WINERY PRESENTATION

Inspired by his passion and love for the land and agriculture, Chilean businessman Gonzalo Vial, at the age of 60, decided to embark on a new project: a winery that would honor Chile’s roots.

In 1998, the first vineyard was planted in the Trinidad estate in the Maipo Costa Valley, where the Ventisquero Wine Estates winery was established. True to its adventurous spirit, seeking to make life an adventure, the brand “Ventisquero” was created within the wine group in 2002. The name pays tribute to the imposing glaciers of Chilean Patagonia.

In 2000, with the arrival of head winemaker Felipe Tosso and the guidance of Australian winemaker John Duval, the winery began to expand, opening offices in the United States and Europe, and exploring vineyards in other wine regions such as Casablanca and Colchagua. Over the years, their wines began to gain recognition both in Chile and abroad.

Ventisquero is a brand that offers a broad range of bold wines that celebrate Chile’s diverse landscapes, from deserts to glaciers, mountains, and coastline, inviting the world to discover them.

Each bottle is a tribute to its terroir, from the most extreme, such as the Atacama Desert, to wines born in the Andes Mountains in the central region, and valleys where the Pacific Ocean leaves its powerful mark. This has resulted in daring, extreme wines, as well as classic and traditional ones—a range as varied as Chile's terroirs and climates.

This homage to Chile’s geography is reflected in the names of the different wines of the brand, such as Queulat, representing the imposing Ventisquero glacier in Chilean Patagonia, or Grey, named after the massive glacier in the Torres del Paine region. Meanwhile, the wine Yelcho is named after the lake of a thousand expeditions in the Aysén region, in the far south of Chile. In this way, Ventisquero invites wine lovers to explore and journey through this long, narrow country.
