HISTORIA

Detrás de nosotros queda una historia fabulosa y un pasado glorioso. Mirando hacia el futuro, mantenemos el firme compromiso de preservar un alto estándar de calidad en nuestros vinos y la confianza en una Compañía donde la precisión y la visión de continuar haciendo historia son preocupaciones constantes.

Fundada por Alvará Régio del Rey D. José I, bajo el auspicio de su Primer Ministro Sebastião José de Carvalho e Melo, Marqués de Pombal, el 10 de septiembre de 1756, la importancia de esta Ex-Majestática Compañía ha quedado claramente demostrada a través de los valiosos servicios prestados a la comunidad.

Desde 1960, la Real Companhia Velha ha sido gestionada por la familia Silva Reis, que ha dedicado todos sus esfuerzos a la producción de Vino de Oporto y Douro DOC, basándose en un estudio profundo del terroir duriense. La Compañía es propietaria de cinco quintas en el Alto Douro Vinhateiro: Quinta das Carvalhas, Quinta de Cidrô, Quinta dos Aciprestes, Quinta do Casal da Granja y Quinta do Síbio, con un total de 557 hectáreas de viñedos propios.

Álvaro Martinho is the agronomist responsible for viticulture at Quinta das Carvalhas. A Douro man through and through, he has made this Quinta his second home and knows it like the back of his hand.
