Quinta do Monte Travesso has been in the hands of the Nápoles de Carvalho family for five generations, since the founder of Casa do Douro, great-grandfather of the current owners, gave this beautiful estate to his daughter as a wedding gift. Since then, the planting of some of the current vineyards and wine production began, in the same warehouses where Monte Travesso wines are still vinified today. Recently, the vineyards have been planted with single varieties per plot and new technologies have been introduced, including the ability to control the fermentation temperature in the centenary wine presses.
