Its historical past is marked by the resistance of its indigenous inhabitants, the Calchaquíes, against the Spanish conquest. Here lived the last Spanish governor of Salta, Don Severo Isasmendi, as well as the last Inca to rule the Empire at that time, the chief Humanao. In his honor, the winery bears his name.
