History

"In the year 1861, Francesc Sala Ferré became the first member of the Ferrer-Sala family to enter the wine business, though his ancestors had already been making wine for centuries on the family estates of La Freixeneda and Can Sala, both located in the heart of Catalonia's Penedés region in Spain.

After revolutionizing sparkling wines with Freixenet starting in 1914, the family has continued to seek new frontiers and sensations in the wine world, as demonstrated by their ventures into Sonoma (USA) and Champagne (France) in the 1980s, the most prestigious Spanish Denominations of Origin in the 1990s, and finally into Gualtallary, in the Uco Valley (Argentina) in the 2000s.

Today, our winery is part of the Ferrer Miranda Group, a family business led by Pedro Ferrer Noguer, the soul and president of this company established in 2018. The group consists of four wineries located in iconic wine regions: Valdubón (DO Ribera del Duero), Solar Viejo (DOC Rioja), and Vionta (DO Rías Baixas) in Spain, and Finca Ferrer in Argentina. With the personal commitment of our president, his experience, and expert knowledge in the sector, we strive for excellence, style, and a sustainable future, promoting the values that have always characterized his family: 'love and affection for our land and our wines.'"

Terroir

"In Gualtallary, we find a perfect terroir for planting our vineyards. A unique soil where the radiant mountain sun bathes the vines, alongside the crystalline meltwater flowing down not from the sky but from the imposing snow-capped Andes.

By day, the grape skins darken, gaining in perfume and flavor. At night, the cool mountain breeze momentarily halts time, the valley falls silent, and the fruit ripens in its complexity.

Finca Ferrer is located in the prestigious and unique region of Gualtallary in Tupungato, a subregion of the Uco Valley in Mendoza, Argentina.

Here, on its 317 hectares at over 1,300 meters altitude, it produces exquisite wines from varietals such as Malbec, Syrah, Pinot Noir, Tempranillo, Chardonnay, and Torrontés, planted on a sandy and rocky soil with a calcareous base, low in organic matter.

With exceptional drainage and the aid of characteristic winds, the plant remains healthy and strong from its inception. The temperature range of 16°C, with intense solar exposure and low nighttime temperatures, produces grapes with outstanding color and aroma."
