Cooperativa San Lorenzo La Mancha

In Alameda de Cervera, a cooperative founded in 1951, with a high production, of great interest for white wine lovers.

Cooperativa San Lorenzo is included in the La Mancha wine region

Cooperativa San Lorenzo is in the village of Alameda de Cervera (Alcázar de San Juan), which belongs to the province of Ciudad Real. On 31st March 1954, the "San Lorenzo" Agricultural Cooperative Society was set up to meet the needs of the small vine growers in the area to group together to make wine from the grapes they themselves produced, and to deal with the problem of the "maquila" market at the time (delivering the product without a stipulated price, depending on what the buyer asked for), a system that was unreliable and which caused great financial losses for the producers. In 2001, the "Gran Prior Alameda" brand was legalised in order to proceed with the bottling of our wines, which have a great acceptance in the market. In 1994, in order to meet the needs of some of the cooperative's members, a new section was created, dedicated to the packaging and marketing of fruit and vegetable products. This section sells approximately 700,000 kg of peppers, 1,800,000 kg of melons and 200,000 kg of watermelons on the national market, giving an important added value to the farms related to this cooperative.
