The province of Seville has a long tradition of wine cultivation, which dates back to the 15th century. Although it is true that for a long time wine production was reserved for the nobility and for export.
In Seville, we can distinguish the following wine-growing areas, each of them producing wines with their own identity: Sierra Norte, Aljarafe, Bajo Guadalquivir and Campiña.
Within the Lower Guadalquivir, there are three municipalities with a long winemaking tradition: Los Palacios y Villafranca, Utrera and Lebrija.
This is an area of albariza soils, where the most characteristic grape varieties are: Palomino, Pedro Ximénez, Moscatel, Airén and Zalema.
In the town of Lebrija is the only winery in the province that forms part of the Marco de Jerez wine route.
