Salas Bajas is a municipality in the province of Huesca, in the autonomous community of Aragon in Spain. According to the National Institute of Statistics, in 2021 the population of Salas Bajas was 153 inhabitants.
As for the gastronomy of Salas Bajas and the area, traditional Aragonese cuisine stands out, with dishes such as roast veal, lamb shepherd's pie, borage with potatoes and ham, garlic soup, among others. Also popular are pork products, such as ham and sausage, and black truffles.
As for wine, the Huesca area has several Designations of Origin, such as Somontano and Cariñena, which produce high quality wines. In particular, the Somontano D.O. is known for its red and white wines, made from grape varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Tempranillo, Garnacha, Chardonnay and Gewürztraminer. The area also produces wines from the Cariñena D.O., with varieties such as Garnacha, Cariñena and Tempranillo.
