Mogarraz is a municipality located in the comarca of Sierra de Francia, in the province of Salamanca, in the autonomous community of Castilla y León, Spain. According to data from the National Institute of Statistics (INE), the population of Mogarraz in 2021 was approximately 430 inhabitants.
As for the places of tourist interest in Mogarraz and its surroundings, I can mention the following:
Plaza Mayor: this square is the nerve center of Mogarraz and has a typical architecture of the area, with wooden and stone balconies. Here you can also find the Town Hall and the parish church.
Houses of Mogarraz: in this village you will find a large number of houses with stone facades and half-timbering, which have been restored to preserve their traditional appearance.
Church of Nuestra Señora de la Asunción: this church dates from the 18th century and has a baroque altarpiece from the 18th century and several decorative elements of great value.
Mirador de la Peña de Francia: from this viewpoint, located near Mogarraz, you can enjoy spectacular views of the mountains.
As for the gastronomy of the area, some of the typical dishes you can try are the hornazo (pie stuffed with sausage and other sausages), the cocido serrano, roast lamb, garlic soup and potatoes revolconas. Also famous are the sausages of the area, such as Iberian ham and cured pork loin.
