Tirgo is a municipality in the district of Haro, in the province of La Rioja, Spain. It is located in the valley of the river Tirón, surrounded by mountains and vineyards, which gives it great scenic beauty.
Among its places of tourist interest is the church of San Pedro Apóstol, a Baroque-style temple built in the 18th century, which houses an altarpiece of great artistic value. You can also visit the hermitage of Nuestra Señora de la Cuesta, located on an elevated site with excellent views of the valley.
Another place of interest is the Briñas Bridge, a Roman bridge that crosses the river Tirón and dates from the 1st century AD. It is one of the oldest Roman structures in La Rioja.
In Tirgo you can also enjoy various activities related to wine tourism, as the municipality is part of the Rioja Qualified Designation of Origin. You can visit some of the wineries in the area, such as Bodegas Bilbaínas, where high quality wines are produced.
As for gastronomy, in Tirgo you can enjoy Rioja cuisine, which is characterised by the quality of its products and the use of traditional techniques in its preparation. Some typical dishes of the area are cod in ajoarriero sauce, roast lamb and garlic mushrooms.
