Visit Monte María winery

In any of the following three options, you can walk and explore the vineyard, enjoy the scenery and surroundings, and share this experience with the owners.

Viña Monte María, a family venture, was established in 2008 when the first grapevines were planted on the family-owned plot of land. These vines would eventually yield the first Cabernet Sauvignon grape harvests in 2009 and 2010, produced in a very artisanal manner.

The initial wine production was only 100 bottles. By 2011, with the addition of new machinery, they increased bottling to 1,400 bottles, which then grew to 3,000 bottles in 2012 and 10,000 bottles in 2013.

As the label on Monte María wines states, this process has been:

"A long-cherished dream come true in a wine with fine textures and a subtle aroma of wood. Noble and sweet like the Marías who inspire its name, it originates in a corner of El Monte surrounded by hills and gentle sea breezes that embrace its vineyards."

Indeed, the name of the winery and vineyard, Monte María, is derived from its location in the town of El Monte, which has welcomed it, and because all four daughters in the family have "María" as their first name.

This is a venture of a Family Boutique Winery specializing in the production of high-quality red wines, involving the entire value chain of the product. In the initial stages, Cabernet Sauvignon and Carmenere wines were produced, taking advantage of the availability of grapes from these varieties in their own vineyards. Later, new grape varieties such as Syrah, Malbec, and Pinot Noir were introduced, expanding the range of wines and blends that can be created from them.

Due to its small scale and integration of all stages of wine production, this project is well-suited for educational and tourism purposes. It is dedicated to exploring a very specific and limited "terroir" that produces excellent quality red wines.
