"Located in the historic Hacienda Santa Teresa de Llay Llay, whose main house and century-old park were declared a National Historic Monument in 2008, Baron Knyphausen Winery produces exceptional red wines, cultivating grapes in a 100% organic manner, free of residues, pesticides, and chemicals. The terroir of the Aconcagua Valley in Llay Llay benefits from fertile soil shaped by the Aconcagua River, intense sunlight, humidity with morning fog from the Pacific Ocean, and strong winds that ventilate the vineyard. In Mapudungun, 'llay' means wind.
In 1818, the Baron Knyphausen family acquired the vineyards and estate of the former Cistercian monastery Eberbach in Eltville, on the banks of the Rhine River in Germany. Riesling has been produced on these lands since 1141, giving rise to Riesling wines and the famous Rheingau Designation of Origin.
In Chile, Baron Knyphausen unites the most renowned terroirs of Rheingau in Germany and the Aconcagua Valley within the same family."
